Artexte X Symposium international d’art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul

The Future is Created in the Past: Special exhibition

July 28 - August 27, 2017

The Future is Created in the Past: Science Fiction in Contemporary Art from 1967 to Now.

For the 35th edition of the Symposium international d’art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul, under the theme Pasts in the Present, we have prepared an exhibition that will be on view at the Symposium from July 28 to August 27, 2017.

The exhibition presents documents from Artexte’s collection, exploring the theme of science fiction in contemporary art. Posters, artists’ books, exhibition catalogues and images, showcase artistic projects from the late 1960’s to the present. The exhibition reflects on the ways in which artists examine and perceive of the universe. They explore the social, political and environmental realities of the past and present temporalities, to imagine possible worlds of the future.
