For their research residency, Richard Ibghy and Marilou Lemmens continue their investigation on the dissemination of ideas into life by exploring Artexte’s collection. Synonymous with action and bodily knowledge, performance inserts itself completely into the research process of the two artists. For them, Artexe’s collection is more than a simple repository of information: it is a unique space that should be acknowledged by both mind and body. Their research will be presented to the public subsequently.
The artistic practice developed by Richard Ibghy and Marilou Lemmens is collaborative. Together, they aim to give form to ideas and make visible certain structures of thought. Through sculpture, video, performance and installation, the work of Ibghy and Lemmens examines the material, sensory and subjective records of experiences that cannot be entirely translated into signs or systems. For many years, they have elaborated projects that question economical logic and its influence in everyday life.
Ibghy and Lemmens live and work in Montreal and South Duham (Eastern Townships). Their work was shown both across Canada and internationally, with exhibitions in Norway, the United Arab Emirates, Germany and the United States. Recently they had an exhibition at VOX, centre de l’image contemporaine and participated in the Biennale de Montréal at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal.
