Development

New acquisitions - Nouvelles acquisitions

Artexte’s collection of documentation reflects an interest in critical approaches to production, exhibition, research and writing practices in contemporary art. The collection development derives from research by staff and guest researchers. Other significant contributions come from the museums, artists-run centres, galleries, academic programs and other cultural organizations that make up the local and international contemporary art milieu. More generous donations come from individuals who are involved in the community (artists, curators, art dealers, and art critics among others).

Dossiers on Artists, Curators and Writers
Professional artists, curators and art critics are invited to submit a dossier on their work, or periodically update dossiers already included in the collection. Dossiers are made available for consultation by researchers.

Donate Publications
Organizations, artists and publishers who produce publications on contemporary art are encouraged to donate a copy of their documents. In exchange, Artexte’s staff catalogues new acquisitions and makes them available to researchers. In addition, Artexte disseminates information on these documents through its online Bibliographical Database.

Donation policy
Artexte recognizes the generous support it receives from the visual arts community. The success and growth of our collection are due, in large part, to the donation of art publications by members of this community.

The analysis and eventual treatment of donations represents a significant allocation of our resources, and for this reason, the following guidelines should help you prepare your donation.

Tax receipts equal to the value of donations are available (see Donation policy and guidelines [pdf]).
