This Fall: Printed matter as a means for artists in the 1970s to network nationally and internationally; public drawing sesions with Gareth Long and Derek Sullivan, under the influence of Flaubert; and new partnerships.

Artexte is co-producing an exhibition with the National Gallery of Canada Library and Archives entitled Constellation and Correspondences: Networking between Artists 1970-1980. This exhibition will be held in Ottawa from September 15 to December 24 2010, and will inaugurate the fall 2011 opening of Artexte’s new spaces in the 2-22 building on St. Catherine East.

Artexte is also collaborating on two international events that will welcome established artists, critics and cultural workers, as well as researchers and art historians to Montreal this fall.

The 2010 Res Artis Conference, The Americas: Independent Artistic Practices in the Era of Globalization, is an initiative of the RCAAQ which is being held from October 6 to 10. The Conference examines the place of artists’ residencies in the Americas.

For this event, Artexte will present Derek Sullivan and Gareth Long’s drawing sessions The Illustrated Dictionary of Received Ideas on October 7, 8 and 9. You will find the complete programme of the conference at 2010 Res Artis

The second event, Literature and public spaces, will dedicate two days to explore the relationships that exist between literature and public space. This event will take place on October 15 and 16, 2010, and is organized by the research group PLEPUC, Concordia University. For more information, consult the event’s website: plepuc.org
